Pedestal

Hey,

Happy New Year to everyone. Just a quick one for those of you that don't know already that I've started a new project aimed at creating an online platform for creative individuals to inspire others through their own learning experiences.

Click here to take a look and follow the blog. I am also currently looking for other entrants to contribute towards the blog. Please contact pedestalsubmissions(at)hotmail.co.uk

Thanks.

Sorry.

I apologise for my lack of activity recently. I can assure you I will be back with something creative and interesting for you to feast your eyes upon shortly.

7 Days

Just a quick preview of a project that I am currently undergoing. I am in the process of collating all the relevant information from the diary to create a visual record of my day to day existence.

CPH

I recently visited Copenhagen in Denmark. Whilst there I was taken aback by the way that CPH works in comparison with English cities. Cyclists take precedence over everybody else. Here are a few images that depict my time there well.

I: Dash Snow (Self-portrait): I encountered this self-portrait in the Statens Museum for Kunst (the Danish National Gallery), it seemed to capture very well the manic lifestyle led by Snow which I have read so much about since his death.

II: Invigilator inside Statens Museum for Kunst

III: Spiral Meander (deep violet and brown), 2009 by Vivian Berg
http://www.springexhibition.com/index.php/da/home Another interesting exhibition that I saw while in CPH was the Spring Exhibition at Charlottenborg Fonden; the Danish equivalent of our Royal College of the Arts or Royal Academy.

IV: Untitled (2009) by Sören Siebel
This installation was a simple dynamic spectacle to behold, the low hum of the fans and their gusts battling against each other and turning the pages in a quirky uncontrollable manner.

V & VI: These are click tickets, a visually interesting analogue limited period tickets used to get around on the underground system. The stamped digits and disposable existence of them make them even more interesting in the ever-more digitising world that we live in.

Permutations Re-work

I have recently gone back through some of my works and given them a shuffle about it some different formats. Here is my rejig of a four colour record of permutations involving CMYK as before. I am hoping to sharpen things up a little and become a little more clinical in the final visual result of some of the works. This should hopefully open up the door to some new possibility within which I can take them.

Degree Show

This is the installation that I setup for the Degree Show. It consisted of the materials that I used to create the works situated in the desk, which worked as a plinth for the catalogue raisonée that I produced detailing the evolutionary processes that form my work.

The viewer is greeted by my artist statement, which underpins the ethos of what I was attempting to do; then working round they are then supposed to read the contents of the book and finally discover the works within the plan chests.

The book is designed to work as an index and provide the viewer with some information about the work and the whole through which it came to fruition; and to also offer an alternative method of exhibiting the works.

Rubbish Summer.

So . . .
Summer's been pretty terrible for me this year. Initially struggling to find a job has been coupled with some family illness and bereavements. Subsequently, my blog has remained untended. After a brief bit of joy in the shape of Bestival and starting a new job I have now recently been struck down by appendicitis. As a result of this I now have two weeks off work to rest and hopefully add some things to my blog for you to look at.

Done.

With all my work done and the degree show set up ready for assessment; it now appears that I have time to tend to my blog. Here are some images of some more of the works that will feature within the installation that I've put together.

"Permutations VII"

This piece is a short stop animation I made having recorded all the possible combinations used in the CMYK four colour printing process that we experience everyday. This is the seventh piece that I have created in this series.

Hold Fire.

The image above is of the installation that I've decided to include in the catalogue that we are producing for our Degree Show.

I have only just set up the blog and subsequently am still generating all my images etc. If you check back again in a week or so there should be some more creative delights for you to look at.
